Dear Parent(s) and Family Members,
Welcome to the wonderful world of fourth grade. What an exciting year we have ahead of us as we embark on our “Voyage of Discovery.” Your child is our nation's next generation of explorers, making the discoveries of this 21st century.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. You are their first teacher and their most important one. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone. I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes and/or tests. I will keep you informed of all assignments through the use of daily planners.
Learning to me has become a movement away from simply “doing school” to empowering students in developing a thirst for wanting to learn more. I value social, hands-on experiences that are personally relevant and meaningful. I view my role in the classroom as a facilitator and collaborator for your child. I am passionate about your child being able to use the school community to expand their understanding of themselves and the world around them.
