Community Service Opportunities

Community service should no longer be thought of as a punishment. It is actually the glue that holds the community together. Benefits of volunteering include:

-Volunteer match is a website that makes it easy for individuals to find an opportunity to volunteer that fits your interests, skills and schedule.

-The Charity Guide is a volunteer directory that makes it possible for people to make a difference at anytime, from anywhere. The directory provides volunteer opportunities for anyone who has fifteen minutes, a few hours, or even a week.

            -This website provides volunteers ways to get involved in Lowville, New York.

-Habitat for Humanity provides families in need with decent, affordable homes. Volunteers are needed for numerous things such as translating, maintenance work, helping with drafting assignments, etc.

-The American Red Cross offers exciting volunteer opportunities in a wide range of areas. They have volunteer opportunities to suit your schedules and interests.

-The Mission of the Lewis County Humane Society is to prevent cruelty and abuse to animals, to provide education on the humane treatment of animals and to maintain a humane, no-kill shelter.

            -Volunteers are welcome for a variety of tasks

-Angel Food Ministries provides food relief to more than 500,000 families each month. Volunteers are needed for things such as preparing the boxes for distribution.

-Meals on wheels provide meals to millions of seniors throughout the United States. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and package dinners to be delivered, organize schedules, make phone calls, load delivery vehicles, and deliver meals.
