School
We are a small, Pre-K-12, rural school located in Lewis County, in northern New York State. The population of Lewis County, as of 2020, was 26,456. This year, we anticipate that 55% of our graduates will go on to two-
year colleges, technical schools, or four-year colleges. Many of them will be the first in their family to do so.
Approximately 50% of our high school students receive free or reduced lunch.

Grading System
Numerical grades 0% - 100%. The minimum passing grade is a 65%. Final Average consists of Quarters 1-4 and Final Exam (each weighted 20%) with very few exceptions. Class rank and final averages are unweighted. The average is based on all subjects. Class standing and grade point average are computed at the end of the student’s junior year. 67 students are included in the class rank for the class of 2023.
High School Diploma Minimum Requirements
Local Diploma: 24 credits, to include minimum: 4 English, 4 Social Studies, 3 Math, 3 Science, 1 Art/Music, 1 Language Other Than English, 1⁄2 Health, 2 Physical Education, electives. Can score a 55% or higher on five specifically designated Regents exams or use compensatory scores on two appropriate exams. This option is only available for students approved by our Committee on Special Education.
Regents Diploma
: 24 credits, to include minimum: 4 English, 4 Social Studies, 3 Math, 3 Science, 1 Language Other Than English, 1 Art/Music, 1⁄2 Health, 2 Physical Education, electives. Must score 65% or higher on five specifically designated Regents exams or receive an approved exemption.
Advanced Regents Diploma
: 24 credits, to include minimum: 4 English, 4 Social Studies, 3 Math, 3 Science, 3 Language Other Than English, 1 Art/Music, 1⁄2 Health, 2 Physical Education, electives. Must score 65% or
higher on eight specifically designated Regents exams and pass the LOTE regionally accredited final or receive an approved exemption.
Other State Education Department approved pathways to graduation are considered on a case by case basis.
Students planning to take Regents exams in June of 2020 through June 2021 were given an ”exempt” for their test score, if they received a passing final average for that class, due to Regents exams being cancelled because of COVID-19.
